Introducing Myself and A Life Devoted
Those who have followed my writing know certain things about my life: I am the mother of two amazing humans and the bonus mom to two remarkable young ladies. I am the wife of an extraordinary woman. I am a daughter, sister, and aunt. My friendships, woven through years of shared experiences, run deep and true. I value individuality as much as collectivity and believe the dynamics between those two concepts are central to building the authentic connections that form the fabric of a good life. I carry with me the gift of exceptional education, the influence of brilliant minds, and an unwavering drive to create positive change in both my immediate community and the wider world.
You also might know that in 2021, an adverse reaction to a COVID booster thrust me unexpectedly into a medical labyrinth. I encountered a cacophony of challenges: medical gaslighting, misdiagnoses, the complexities of managing both chronic and acute pain, and the intricate journey of physical and emotional recovery.
My recovery has informed my writing, which has informed my healing. This publication houses outcrops of the book I've written about my experience, alongside explorations and discoveries made in unexpected places. My professional journey infuses my perspective and method of rabbit-hole discovery diving, where I’ve interwoven ideas from public health, community building, and technology. I still look to the experience and profound meaning I’ve found in collaborating with pioneering health and technology startups dedicated to democratizing access to education and healthcare. I return over and over again to the knowledge I’ve gained in data visualization and self-management frameworks that empower individuals to architect their desired lives. And now, I’m rediscovering my passion and purpose in working with horses, facilitating mental and behavioral wellness and healing for adults and children - and for myself.
I hope to show the explosive freedom that happens when we pause, let ourselves be curious, try on different ideas and identities, and be okay with murky undefined phases. I want to demonstrate what happens when we activate and fail, falling flat on our faces only to rise again bruised and dirty, but better prepared. And what it looks like when we sit deep, find alignment, and listen to our mind and body and our knowing.
I launched this publication with complex ideas about epigenetics, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and being a second-generation cult survivor. But this publication is more than that. It’s about finding purpose and passion, navigating career shifts and life design iterations, and about how by becoming our authentic selves, by finding our truth, we’re able to better connect to the people we love and the life we want.
